Dalian Ocean Fishing Company Limited (“our Company” or“Dalian Ocean Fishing”) is a leading ultra-low temperature longline premium tuna fishing company headquartered in Dalian, Liaoning Province, the PRC. Founded in 2000, our Company was among the early entrants into the PRC ultra-low temperature longline tuna fishing industry and is the largest ultra-low temperature longline premium tuna fishing company in the PRC in terms of revenue and sales volume by weight in 2013, and the very large in terms of number of self-owned vessels as at 31 December 2013. Since January in 2015, Dalian Ocean Fishing has become the very large in terms of number of self-owned vessels after purchasing other seven vessels.
Our Company focuses on catching and selling premium tuna, which have significantly higher market value than common tuna and are primarily used in high-end sashimi. Our major export market is Japan, the world’s very big market for premium tuna in 2013. In addition, our Company is the large Chinese supplier of premium tuna to Japan in 2013.
Our Group operates a fleet of 33 ultra-low temperature longline fishing vessels.
Our Company deploys advanced longline fishing method in operations which normally catches premium tuna of larger size and is widely recognized as a more environmentally friendly fishing method than purse seine fishing method as it minimizes the impact on fishery resources and other marine species. All of the longline fishing vessels that we operate, including the seven managed vessels, are equipped with ultra-low temperature freezers which maintain temperatures at minus 55 degrees Celsius or lower to maintain the freshness of our tuna for extended periods of time. The fishing vessels also deploy advanced equipment for monitoring temperature of ocean water, current movements and other environmental factors relevant to fish migration.
